All about the event

This well-known event commenced in 1984 as the Lake Macquarie Half Marathon. In 2010, the event was renamed the “Lake Macquarie Running Festival” to embrace the growing nature of the event, which was expanded to include a 10.5km Fun Run and 4km Kids Scamper. It then adopted the name given by the local runners and became the Lake Mac Run. The 2024 event celebrates its 40-year anniversary event, making it one of Australia’s oldest running events. The festival is positioned within the running calendar to take advantage of the Sydney Marathon, which is held a few weeks later, and Sydney’s City To Surf, held a few weeks prior. The event is designed to enable the broader community and families to compete and also attract athletes of an international standard. Previous competitors have included Steve Moneghetti, triathlete Kristin Molloy, as well as local international stair runner Angela Leadbeatter.
